What is Uterine Fibroid Embolization?
UFE is a minimally invasive procedure performed in an outpatient setting. During a UFE procedure, our expertly trained physicians make a slight incision in the groin or wrist and insert small catheters, aided by image-guided technology, to locate the fibroids. Once the fibroids are located, tiny particles are injected into the small blood vessels that “feed” the fibroids. The particles block the blood flow and cause the fibroids to shrink.
